McKeesport, PA High School Class of 1923 and Where They Were in 1938
In the professional field, we find several members of the class. Harry Donmore is a local dentist, with an office in the Peoples' City Bank. Raymond Englert is a Pittsburgh physician. Paul Farrell is a local attorney. So are Sam Keller and Maurice Kessler. John Hrinko practices law in Ohio, while Bernard Jubelier is an Altoona lawyer. Daniel Hardy is a local dentist, while Jack Ivey has a dental office in the Jenkins Arcade, Pittsburgh. John Maurer has become an X-Ray specialist. Lester Mehaffey is a local chiropractor. Sol Mercur is a private consultant in this city. Herbert Paul is also a local dentist, while Dr. Maurice Wander is connected with one of the New York hospitals. Milton Mermelstein and Murray McElwee are local physicians.
A few of the graduates have taken up the teaching vocation. The following are some of the local teachers: Edith Douglas (Market Street), Irene Feeney (West Side), Thelma Moore (Fawcett), Ethel Rippel (history in the George Washington Building), Katherine McFadden, department-chairman of sewing for the grades, Leona O'Shea (East End), Mrs. John White (Virginia Scully), English teacher in the high school, Cleona Watson (Fawcett). Josephine Gorman teaches in Pittsburgh. Gertrude Jamison teaches home economics in New Windsor, Maryland. Edwin Larson teaches manual training in Windber.
Several of the girls have entered the business world. Olive Alderin works in the Murphy office. Lucille Crawford is a clerk at the Westinghouse Airbrake; she resides in Pittsburgh. Bessie Levine is a buyer For the Union Clothing Company, of McKeesport. Mary Long is in the purchasing department of the Westinghouse Airbrake. Marion Roos is a local nurse. Esther Safier is a McKeesport secretary. Hannah Wagner is in the office of the local Bell Telephone Company. Margaret Wiegand is employed as a secretary in Dravosburg.
Death has claimed the following members: Anna Mackanic, Alice Mitchell, Hilda Reiter Elizabeth Sinn, Ory Stearns, Charles Wallace.
